Today the Department of Geodesy and Cartography produces specialists in the field of "Geodesy, Cartography and Land Management" specialty "Cartography" and "Land Management and Cadastre". The department has additional licence for training by EQL "specialist" and "master" specialties "Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing" and "Geographic Information Systems and Technologies", this training is carried out at the Military Institute of Kyiv National Taras Shevchenko University. The department also carries out research work: participates in state budgetary themes and performs research in the following areas - geoinformation providing of cartographic modeling and design maps for the purposes of education, geodynamic researches, including strain engineering structures, cartographic shooting territory, including using methods of digital photogrammetry in architectural measurements and reconstructions, complex thematic mapping, particularly ecological and medical-geographical, problem-oriented mapping of Ukraine.
The department provides training for senior scientific staff through postgraduate and doctoral specialty 11.00.12 - geographic cartography.
In the department there are two laboratories: laboratory for teaching and research laboratory of cartography and geoinformatics.
The department provides training-practices for students at Boguslawska hydrological station in Kyiv region and at the Camp "Mriya" in the Plyuty village Obukhov district, Kyiv region.
